12 Days of Creepfest: How do you celebrate a job well done?

Today I finished the second draft of my novel and I was kind of lost on how to celebrate. This is the third novel that I’ve written, but I’ve never really done anything special to celebrate. Last year I opened up Resident Evil 4 and played that, but I finished so late that I only played for like ten minutes before bed.

So, how about you? If you write novels, poems, build sleighs for Santa Clause, or whatever, when you finish monumental tasks, how do you like to celebrate?

As part of the 12 Days of Creepfest tour, I’m giving away a $5 Amazon gift card to a random commenter who has left a meaningful comment on my website during the tour. The winner will be announced the day after the tour ends, which is Christmas day.

Here are the other topics for discussion I’ve posed during this tour:
What are you researching?
How do you overcome the fear of the blank page?
What are some five star short stories, anthologies, or short story authors that you’ve read?
What are your favorite holiday traditions?
What kind of podcasts do you like?
What do you think about journal fiction?

  1. Hi Tim! Merry Christmas, and Happy Creepfest! 😉 I always celebrate by heading to my favorite Chinese restaurant, “Heng Fat’s” – luckily they’re located less than a mile away so I celebrate as often as I can. heh heh. Congratulations on your completed draft! Grab some Hunan Spicy Chicken at your local Chinese restaurant!

  3. Hi Tim!

Celebrating usually includes going out for some sort of dessert! Either dessert waffles (with ice cream, bananas or strawberries, whipped cream) or cheesecake of some sort. Yeah, i have a sweet tooth 🙂

    Happy Creepfest!

  4. Hi Tim! Happy Creepfest!

I’m on a strict budget, so if I’m celebrating I usually grab a cold beer from the fridge, or crack open one of the cheap red wines I’ve come to love. If I’m particularly energetic, I’ll look for a nice cut of meat in the freezer that’s begging to be made into a celebratory feast.

To celebrate my boyfriend’s new job and my latest book, I cooked a big turkey roast and invited my brother over. Simple things are best.

I can understand that, for sure. I bought a book and had some popcorn and m&ms. Sounds like a good time. Congratulate your boyfriend for me, as well as congratulations on your new book. Which one is that?
